I hate that. Teachers have no taste in books. We get God aweful books to read over the summer. I have to read three of them while I'm in Florida for vacation. I think there's only one that looks good, and that's because it's the sequal to one we read last year that wasn't half bad.
OH, and one of the books has three hundred pages. It's for Art class. Who reads books for art class?? -.-#

Oh God, Art class? Is it a special art class like Art History? Or AP? I have never heard of AP art though... *shrugs* Oh well. We get stupid work piled upon us...that sometimes makes no sense what so ever.

We have four art levels, there's Art 1, Art 2, Applied Art and Advanced Art. I'm going into Applied art. I've never had to read a book the past two years in that class. I think the teacher's assigning the book to everyone. It's a real pain.

Summer reading is the worst thing you are right they do pick some of the most boring books to put on that list.

I haven't had any summer reading assignments ^.^ Lucky me. Though I get it during the school year, like in eighth grade I had to read the Hobbit. Now don't get me wrong, I love the LOTR series, but that just ruined it for me. I was forced to read that book and I had to do two projects on it. so I absolutely hate that book now all because my teacher ruined it for me. If I read it on my own time, I probably would have liked it.

IT's not actually the teacher's fault we read crappy books. Their Board of Educations hands them a list of suggested books that can be used in a carriculum, I think there's like hundreds, all of which are crappy. So the teacher then has to pick from that list. So I blame the Board as much as teachers.
Random thought: I have spent nearly 24 cumulative hours in a car in the past 4 days. I have a six hour ride home today from Maine back to New York. Tomorrow, I have to take ANOTHER six hour ride from New York BACK to Vermont. My family is coming home,b ut I'm leaving to visit a friend the following day. It seems so retarted.

Wow, this random thoughts board is really huge!!!
I have driven a lot this summer too. Family going here an there. Anywhere from 9hrs to 14hrs in a car sucks...if your awake most of the time (ha ha). I love to go visit family, especially if I have not seen them in a long time, it's a nice break from home.
Summer reading is OK, I don't mind it. Kisa is right, School Boards are not good at picking books that go with the curriculum. Half the time the books are bad. I am not going to say all the time because I know I have read at least 2 or 3 good books that were handed to me for an assignment but the rest are just plain blah. No character development or anything, and that sucks. To read a book that is BLAH.

"You should watch yourself better... and don't depend on your girl friend to protect you all your life." Shade laughs maniacally while watching Valyke.
CK sits back and watches the characters play. Phoenix, don't you have a leash for your impertinent character. Good luck to you both - Valyke and phoenix.

As for books, I like reading and I like writing, but for some reason, I never seem to like assigned books. It's probably just the mentality that it is required or something like that.

Ok... I think I'm just going to stand off to the side and watch this one... and maybe start the random back up and get away from the crazies.
Phones... have any of you ever thought about what the world would be like without phones?... what are the phones of the future going to look like or be like?... and how wierd would it be if every single phone line would be taken down?... maybe because they've become obsolete or something like that?

If there were no phones I think that my already questionable insanity would be gone and I would be cowering in the coner of my dark room rocking back and forth mumbling random stuff about the world coming to an end and how I miss my cell phone and internet because without the phone lines there would be no internet I think unless you had digital cable or whatever that other thing is called...wow that's sad I have it and I don't know what it's called...I think it's DSL who oknows and what's more who cares
