She was perched atop a black rock, most likely coated in the lava from long ago and hardened. Knees bent in a cross-legged pattern, hands on her knees, Suki gazed out at the city before her; it would only take five minutes on dragon to reach the city, but Suki feared the same abuse she had experienced in the town's prior. Many people knew of Izafel, but none would tell her the true story of what had gone. Small tears lined her eyes, but when one fell she quickly wiped it away, fearing that the others would question her unhappiness. The blue-grey eyes portrayed such a pain that her heart felt like, once again, it was being ripped apart. Still, the town; would they need supplies soon, it was a possibility. Eventually they would need to get some more ammunition, herself included because her arrow supply was not endless. Perhaps she could beg the others to go in her place. Suki would rather avoid the place, at all costs.
Tilting her head back, her eyes found the sky where clouds were lazily drifting across it. She tried to think of when she was flying with the others, that adrenaline rush and the feeling of the wind as it danced through her hair. The feeling was hard to reenact in her mind, it was too wonderful of an experience to fulfill through fantasies. Sighing, she stood up. "Better make a fire," she mumbled to herself, knowing that if they set up camp they wouldn't have to go to that city. But as she looked around, she only saw the cooled lava that coated everything. She thought for a moment, what could be used as kindling. Seeing as there were no trees, she sat down again, utterly frustrated.
Pale fingers touched her cheek, the skin still inflamed from when the commoners had struck her, and with the man's power, it would most likely bruise. She hated that, Suki was rather happy blending into the background, but with a bruise on her face it warranted unwanted attention. Her own touch made her flinch and hiss like a cat, turning her head away to find something else to examine. Digging through her pockets, she pulled out the necklace Izafel had given her so many years ago. Saddened by it, her lips pulled downward into a frown, and she tied it around her neck.
Now Suki was beyond frustrated; everything was upsetting her, and some of the things were just petty, like the lack of fire she could produce. She felt so useless when she stood beside her companions. Punching the ground beside her, flames snaked up her fist until she calmed herself. Removing her hand, she noted the hole she'd left that sizzled and produced steam.
She stood once more, saying nothing, and wandered off a few feet away. Raising her arms over her heads, wrist to wrist, she took off in a dance to release the pent up angst in her. Dancing on the tips of her toes she spun, bringing her arms out at shoulder level to spin much like a dandelion seed does when it's taken up by the wind. She planted her right foot on the ground bent back-wards as one hand followed like an arch and the other ran down the front of her body. Her body returned upright and she crossed one foot over the other until she spun on one foot, the other extended up and outward, her hands grabbing that foot to form an almost ellipse from the negative space between her body and foot. She continued a combination of other moves, sweat beads forming on her face, and a look of concentration in her eyes. Suki jumped up into the air and spinning, landing with her body encased in flames. When she finished she panted lightly and wiped her forehead with the back of her hand. The flames never harmed her, but if anyone had been within a few steps of her she most likely would have annihilated them.
Suki sighed lightly, tying her hair up into a very high bun to get it off her neck. She laid down on the rock she'd been resting on earlier and opened her shirt just a little, letting the kimono rest off her shoulders to let some of the cool air relax her body. Suki wasn't the best at voicing what was wrong, but if anyone had watched her, they would've at least understood she was upset. "Why Izafel...." she whispered quietly.
She cleared her throat and stared at the sky, "Xa'rion? Have you caught up with me yet, Xa'rion and Desuma?" she had run on ahead of them, and wasn't sure where they were now.

Xa'rion muttered to himself as he leaned against the smooth scales of his dragoness--blended into one, he held no fear of falling and smoothely banked with her as he sat centered upon her back, nestled in the crook of his shoulder and wing. Her power filled him as they shot through the sky, and the rush of air across his face both thrilled and pained him. His face was still marred by the little mis-encounter the triplet had experienced some months back, and the deeper cuts still seemed to be having difficulty healing. Perhaps it was his own stubborness that hindered the revival, as Xar was quite the mule when it came to medicinal remedies. He hated being fussed over, and could never sit still for long in the arms of another--it made him uncomfortable.
Feeling his weight shifting off to the left as Desuma tilted right, he quickly reaverted his attention, and focused more on the situation at hand, remembering that daydreaming could lead to wanderings, and for the moment they were headed towards the nearest town with motive. Suki had insisted upon going ahead, and Xar didn't like it. Though he knew and understood that she was completely capable of handling herself, he also saw the timid and tenacity that seemed to plague her. It saddened and frustrated him at times. They'd been through more together in the past months than he'd ever been, and by now he certainly felt a companionly link to her. He was protective of her, just as much as he loved and remained protective over Desuma. Therefore, not knowing exactly where Suki was, left him uneasy and discontented. He tried to hide it, but he never could seem to keep the ever-present Desuma from knowing his troubles.
Raising his body to a more comfortable position upon Desuma's back, he felt her level out and glide upon the wind, whilst he himself let the releasing gusts carry about his troubles, at least temporarily. Unleashing a sigh he looked down, and pressed his palm against the smooth scales of the dragoness, a sense of electric static filled him and rolled about his back as it filled the tattoo along his spine--a near mirror image of Desuma, as good as the artist could make.
Dear Desuma, where is Suki? Can you tell? It would seem to me the village is near...
He whispered to her across the intimate link that bonded them together as he laid his guidence in her superior senses.
He himself gazed across the barren sene below, but from the height they currently resided he could see very little even with the keen eyesight of his distant lineage.ooc: sry it's not much, but I wanted to leave room for Desuma, plus I'm not feeling to hot right now... brb

Flying with a swiftness and grace her kind was known for, Desuma soared carefully of sudden dips and tight turns. She flew straight and soft for her beloved Rider’s health. The air parted ways to her aerodynamic figure making her job easier. Feeling Xa’rion’s wariness in her mind through their connection, the bronze dragoness knew it was best to reunite with Suki sooner rather than later… for Xar’s mental and emotional strength at least. The moment was strange. Desuma felt the excitement in the air above the Fire nation, but it was mixed with sober emotions of uncertainty and instability between Rider and Mount. She could not help but know Xar’s feeling, but she rarely mentioned anything unless her Rider began the conversation – she still felt like it was intruding on his personality and did not want to do it too often. Perhaps once they experienced more together, she would initiate some fun and maybe pry.
Soon after the thought, however, came his initiation. She felt the direct connection open with the touch of his hand. His questions came swiftly along with a flood of emotion, but it was not as overwhelming as before for he has been unfortunately weakened.
Yes, I can tell where she is and yes, the city, she gently corrected before continuing, is near. Suki is just up ahead… beautiful. Suki is a woman full of fire… a very stubborn fire… almost as stubborn as you my dear friend. Desuma pointed out the thought with an extra teasing bite between the soft statements. She continued once again with her deliberately softened mental voice – her voice came gentle at lower tones for her wearied Rider with a hint of aged wisdom despite her relative age as far as dragons go. I would show you but I fear for your stability in this condition your stubbornness has kept you in. As I age, I hope to learn more including active techniques. Perhaps healing may be a part of that future collection… Desuma pulled her head up turning it to the side just enough to look at her companion. But until that day comes, she began once again, promise me, you’ll see someone about your injuries. We will be in the Fire nation and you need not worry about Suki and I; dragons and manipulators of fire are seen on a daily basis and we will not be bothered. Okay? The dragoness watched her Rider intently waiting for a reply of some kind or another.
They came closer to the cliff where Suki rested and waited and Desuma had to relinquish her view of Xar to land safely. Upon landing, however, she was right back to waiting for her pondering Xa’rion’s response.

ooc: I have no idea if we're taking a pattern in the way we post, I just assumed we are, and also was in the mood to post as Suki. (okay, done rambling) ;D
The rapid rise and fall of her chest and eased itself into mundane normality. Resting on the rock, her body felt heavy as if bound by lead weights to the rock, her arms moved slowly as closed her kimono shut once more, finally feeling cool. With a small groan, she rolled over on the stone, so her face met the cool rock beneath her. Calloused but soft fingers curled into fists as she pushed herself up, feeling a sudden unease in her chest. Grey hair swept her back as the locks fell from her high bun, bent from the restraints, now having a strange sort of bounce in the curls. Her marble-cerulean eyes filled with sadness as she began to twirl a strand of hair around her index finger. Izafel used to love her hair, promising to her it was flawless, despite the fact she had grey hair at birth while most girls didn't get their grey hair until they were old grandmothers. Sighing heavily, she stood up slowly and walked to the edge of the cliff.
The edge was sturdy enough for her light weight where she stood, gazing at the city below. The hustle and bustle was a faint murmur on the wind, but it put her at unease, muscles clenching in her neck and back, where almost all her tension went whenever Suki was upset or uncomfortable. She bit her lower lip, feeling it ripen in redness from the constant pain she was causing herself. There wasn't a speck of green anywhere on the horizon, everything was of the soot and remains of fire, such a destroyer, she thought inwardly. How did these people survive without the earth and it's precious gifts? They must trade quite a lot, she realized.
Suki heard the sound of Desuma's wings, no, not the wings, the great force of wind she created from those wings. The young dancer turned quickly, seeing Desuma and Xa'rion had now finally caught up to her. Without thought, she bowed at the waist at their arrival, maybe the proper etiquette of a temple-keeper's apprentice hadn't let her system just yet, despite being away for almost two years. "So you're finally here, Desuma, Xa'rion." Hearing her own voice, Suki realized she sounded quiet, as always, but sad as well. Straightening herself, she put on a happy face and a wave, gliding over to Desuma and tilting her head to the side, grinning,"Did you have a lovely flight? I hope you did, the sky is such a beautiful place to be. My father used to tell me if he could be reincarnated, he'd want to be a falcon who could soar the sky. I think I'd rather be a dragon, and be powerful and elegant like Desuma."
Suki noted how Desuma was waiting for Xa'rion to either speak or decide on a course of action. She felt a pang of envy, witnessing a bond that was beyond friendship, something she had lost to Izafel a long time ago. Unknowingly, her hand was wrapped around the pendant at her neck, squeezing it until the bottom point jabbed into her flesh, making her bleed just a little, but blood was kept from view by the angle of her hand. Suki shook this off, laughing at herself and walked over to Xa'rion, tugging on his boot gently, "Anything going on in that head of your's Xa'rion, or have you left us for a dreamland?"

Without the support of the wind and the light-weight feeling of flight, Xar suddenly felt as if the weight of the world had been reaffirmed upon his shoulders. Sore muscles groaned in discomfort as he slid regrettably from her bronze back--her smooth scales offering no resistance to his departure.
And yet, as soon as he was free of her, he felt the static impulse fade, and wished once more for her stability--missing the warmth she provided. Casually, he leaned against her side, stabalizing his legs--so used to the long still of the flight. He sighed, catching a ragged breath, as battered limbs straightened against the hard blue marks that riddled the skin beneath his robes. He'd seen them, black and yellow hard and painful, and yet he had yet to reveal them to Suki or Desuma. They were nothing to fret over, but caused discomfort nonetheless... and he knew dear Desuma and Suki would probably fret. As it was, Desumas words rang clear and true through his mind, but he did not answer her right away. He was sure she knew, in some manner that he was not fully "alright," but he did not want to give in to her pressurings. His pride and stubborness prevented it, and he sullenly set his teeth and turned to look upon the advancing Suki--her fragile smile and bright eyes. He knew something dark lay behind the quiet, warm exterior... but he dare not pry. The last thing he wanted her to do was resent him. Desuma on the other hand, well... he --dare say-- loved the dragoness, and with that love came rebellion.
He turned a grouchy eye up to her, stubborness riddled among the discomfort and soreness in his eyes.
Please... Such minor "discomforts," are at no value to be called injuries. They are nothing my own body cannot rebuild. Do not belittle me so, I am stronger than you take me for. he teased in denial--his somber and serious expression melting to show her his slight jest.
He chuckled gently--a sound interrupted by a breif clearing of the throat--and turned his smiling face upon the now present Suki. Her warm eyes welcomed him and her tongue offered admiration.
He glanced up towards Desuma, so proud and beutiful--a creature of grace agility and mingled perfection. And through all the frustrations, jest, and teasings that they'd endured within the past few days... they were still together... still as one. With a sigh, he turned back to her--a look of protection glazing his eyes as when a brother looks down upon a younger sibling--the look that desired nothing more than to see her safe.
Earnestly he insisted as he welcomed her in return, "You know I hate it when you wander ahead." He opened up, letting the stregnth ebb from his vision. He wasn't mad, but he was a jestful fool and sarcastic to the end.
"As for my dreamland..." he tossed a sideways smile at Suki as he drifted from Desuma's side, "At least there, I'm not surrounded by nagging women." He chuckled, averting his gaze, to readjust the tunic that had begun to slid upon upon his chest. He wished not to reveal the large bruise that laid beneath it.
His laugh echoed out breifly as he walked stiffly towards a rock--the one Suki had previously rested upon. His side ached, and he paused to catch his breath. He smiled up at Suki, and offered a question as he rested his weight upon elbows which sat upon knees. "So, will you not come with us to the town this time?"
He did not look to Desuma, but his mind did. Which city is this? We have passed so many that I have lost track.
He asked because he hoped to avoid any of the large citedels. He was sure the major city of fire was about here somewhere, but he had no idea that the city Desuma had come to was that such place. He definately was no prepared to hear such news, if she dared to affirm it.

Upon their landing, Suki had, as would be expected, greeted both dragon and Rider with both the sarcasm and friendship the trio had come to know and use throughout their time together. Desuma angled her head from her gaze toward Xa’rion and nodded in acknowledgement of the compliment offered by the light-haired Suki. Thank you, dear Suki. You make a wise choice, the dragoness chuckled slightly in her deep draconic throat. Unfortunately, the moment of jest between the two female friends was interrupted when the bronze scales of her back warned Desuma of Xar’s slip from stability. Quickly curving her long neck, the dragoness moved swiftly to her companion’s side to catch him and help him to keep his balance. Cautiously, she pulled away once he stabilized himself watching him attempt to hide his pain from her. Hot air burst from her nostrils in response to Xar’s jesting retort. Without a moment’s hesitation, just as a dragon of her type should be, Desuma responded to her Rider’s denial. I do not belittle you, Rider. I understand you are strong and know it as if it is me. However, I also understand and know you are weakened and not yourself currently, she chastised as only a Mount would to a Rider.
The fresh scent of blood reached her nose. It was faint and not seemingly serious but still present. They both hide something from the others in the trio of travelers Desuma realized. Emotions are foggy and often times confusing and even with the mental connection between Xa’rion and Desuma the truth continued to be elusive.
As a Mount and friend, Desuma nuzzled Xar’s arm while he addressed Suki’s questions. With the physical connection, she hoped he could regain some of his strength through her electrical source. Xa’rion did not think he needed it though, or that is what it seemed when he drifted from her touch and the connection of static impulse. His Mount and destined life-long friend lifted her head up in worry watching him wearily drift away as he referred to his dreamland. That’s not a dream, she retorted with sarcastic spite, that’s a nightmare, my friend. The familiar jesting faded out as Xa’rion addressed the matter at hand, their location and the city in front of them.
Desuma listened as Xar asked his question, but she did not reply immediately. More than his question had actually crossed over their mental bridge between minds. There was a feeling of uncertainty behind his inquiry and his dragoness was unsure of how she should answer. Well, her voice began quiet, merely a whisper of the mind, for one, we are not in the city yet; we are on a cliff outside the city. As for this city’s name, I am not sure. I have never had the chance to soar these skies; my view has remained of rural scenes for most my life. I have rarely left the mountain ranges – I had felt I would find you there. Her soft voice trailed off as her half-lie ended. She did not understand why she had just lied to the one she had searched for most her life thus far revealed. Their connection remained deep with much still hidden. With a slow grace, Desuma moved closer to Xa’rion’s side her scales reflecting brilliantly in the sun. She came up behind him and wrapped her neck around to nuzzle Xar gently… almost apologetically. I am becoming just like them, she chastised herself.

"Go with you?" she croaked out nervously, the trickles of blood now becoming more evident with the trepidation. The cerulean-marble orbs looked out to where the city was, looking at the homes and the tiny outlines of figures walking about. Will you be here, Izafel, or shall I meet another one of your clans who spite me so? Izafel, what did I do to you, what harmed you so? Suki walked over and stood beside Xa'rion opposite of Desuma's and took one of his hands gently, praying he did not notice the blood that might still linger on her hand. "If you want to go there, then I guess we should, right?" She tried to smile, but it was hard on the girl.
It wasn't hard for Suki to feel how tense Xa'rion was. They were all liars, in their own accord, she figured. He was stubborn about his health, and she with a past she dare not reveal, and the dragon, who knew, for she did not understand what Desuma said. What would Suki encounter this time, in this city, another dead end, another slash to her heart? She pulled her hand from Xa'rion and undid the clasp to her necklace, and let it fall back into her pocket. Somehow, the necklace was too painful to wear, to be consciously aware that she wore her heart on her sleeve.
Suki watched Desuma, cuddling her face against Xa'rion. Something must be wrong with him, she realized, and she turned from him to avoid him seeing such a sad face. The two could not communicate when dealing wtih the most important matters. Somehow, Suki still felt inadequate to even be with this party, these two who were bonded so closely. She covered her face with her hands, her shoulders shook as tears slid down her face though she still attempted to speak.
"What do you need in the town, Xa'rion? I can go get it, and you can stay here and rest with Desuma. I'm sure she's tired too from flying, pretty creature like her should always be well rested." She wiped her face and let out a sigh, turning back to face them, "I"m sorry, I'm not quite sure what's come over me. What would you like to do, Xa'rion, whatever you want is fine with me." Although she smiled, and although her tears had stopped, he'd probably make an inqury of what was wrong with her. She wanted to do the same for him, and beg him to let her tend to him, but she could not let that come out, it was caught in her throat, and slowly suffocating an already damaged soul.

Xar turned to Desuma's sarcastic responce with a venomous glare that warned of retrubution--all in stubborness, rebellion, and friendly sarcasm of course. He was never trule, hatefully, made at his mount, but she sure was relentless in her retorts and always seemed to have some sort of comment to shoot right back at him. It was one of the things that made their bond more than interesting.
I am always myself... he grumbled over their connection.
However, her next comment he could not so easily overthrow in a short time, thus he remained silent and took defeat with a disgruntled clash of teeth and a set jaw. He soften though, and allowed an ounce of weight to lean comfortingly into her, absorbing her strength and support, and her tenderness as she offered it.
Suki was the one who pulled him back to present day, and he found his eyes latched in hers. For a moment, he was caught off guard by her closeness... her hands enveloping his, and her warmth passing through his palms. It set his heart to quiver breifly, before he settled comfortably into the proximity. There was something about this quiet young woman that called to Xar and made him feel light and airy. It was a feeling far different from the ecstatic bond that dragon and rider shared, but it was no less potent. It puzzled him, but remained faint enough for him to put it aside. Her words however touched him, and made him feel quilty for perhaps pressuring her into the towns. He didn't realize how much their first town brawl had really had on her--and the true impact of the events involving her... he knew not how much meaning they really held in her eyes. For her secrets were her own, and he had no key to their locked containment, therefore he could not know.
His face soften as if to open his mouth and tell her she did not have to come, when something else caught his attention. A damp heat filtered across the dimples in his skin and made him catch his breath in puzzlement. Turning his hands, before she could readily escape, he turned her wrist gently to view the prick in her flesh. Curious and questioning eyes look to her, but she was quickly gone. They were not yet quite comfortable with one another to reveal secrets, and he respected that, and thus he did not pursue her--for more reasons than one, one being his physical stiffness and incapability to do so... ironic.
And yet, he could not remain idle and just look away. They had traveled the road and been through different things together to just turn away and wait for her emotional lapse to pass.
So he watched... watched her put the necklace away, observed her tears, and then her apologies. And he uttered not a word... waiting for her to finish. And as silence fell between the trio after her words--her offer to go alone, Xar finally spoke up.
"Suki, what's wrong?" as predictable as it was, he asked it nonetheless. His tones were gentle, coaxing, and lacked nothing more than pure compassion, a willingness to listen, and a sympathetic interest.
He hoped she would reveal some enlightenment to herself. For Xa'rion knew very little about her. In fact, he knew nothing about her. He'd met her on the road, and as far as he knew... that was the only history of hers that he was aware of. Likewise, he had not really revealed his pasts, and Desuma was guilty of the same. He hoped with time, they would come to understand one another and find a mutual commitment.
He waited patiently, gently leaning against Desuma's ever present support. She seems so fragile, he offered to the dragon through their intimate link, a glasslike grace, so easily crushed by the world. I worry for her... he faded out observing the delicate and quiet Suki that he had come to know, that he had devoted himself to protect.

Desuma took the side seat behind Xa’rion as one respectful friend would when others turn for conversation. She let Xar converse with Suki uninterrupted by his dragoness companion. With nothing but the thoughts of mind to keep her company, the bronze dragoness stayed on the sidelines observing the dialogue in the land’s common tongue; Suki may not understand the draconic language, but Desuma is well practiced in the tongues of the Algaësian people as the dragons of the ancients learned to adapt eons ago. The time to think allowed her to ponder a number of issues which stood to be eventually addressed. Her mind wandered about options for the trio’s next course of action; however all thoughts proved not to be of completely positive for a mind, mortal or not. Wrestling with herself, Desuma debated telling Xa’rion the truth of the city’s name – he would have to find out anyway when they decide to enter its walls.
The scent of blood became stronger before Xar took notice of the red liquid on dear Suki’s palm. Clear amber rustic pools gazed on as Xa’rion went on with his expected inquiry poking at the young woman’s current state of mind and physical condition. Desuma continued to ponder while an outside mind joined with hers. Xa’rion must have a thing for poking others, the dragoness joked with herself for it was his mind which prodded hers subconsciously. His feelings mixed with hers not letting her mind have its individuality, but this is what comes with finding your destiny and being the dragon she is, Desuma understood and learned quickly to accept the facts. They would learn more and evolve as partners and companions; it was inevitable as far as partnership and fate goes.
As she wandered in thought, Xa’rion brought her back to the present cliff above the city in recent question with a conscious interruption over their personal bridge of minds. Do not underestimate her, she responded, as you pointed out I am guilty of doing to you. She may be as glass and she may just hide things such as a fogged glass, but not all glasses break under an unseen pressure. Love her, care for her, support her. Perhaps she will open in time. I spoke of a fire with you while in the sky. It smolders, but it remains strong still. Stay with her and rest. If you would like, I could fly ahead and scout out the city. Explore from the sky and ask other dragons of its name. I will return as quickly as I can race the winds, Desuma offered. She wondering if some time alone would do either of the company any good and give her a chance to maybe even resolve her mistake in the previous small lie. Additionally, she wondered if Xar knew she had lied or if he had at least suspected. Her consciousness rarely rested and this lie made her mind all the more wild and unruly. It has been hard to stop feelings from bleeding over their bridge. Desuma only worried of the consequences of Xa’rion finding out through this bond rather than her admittance.

Two simple words. The power of two simple words was enough to crumble the young girl who stood before rider and dragon. Her face contorted slightly, she nibbled at her bottom lip. Suki brought her bloody hand up to her eyes to see and she smiled weakily, look what her own nerves did to her. The feel of the warm liquid on her hand brought back the memories of after Izafel but before Xa'rion, where she had to fight to survive, and injured people. Suki hated violence, hated the savagery her own adrenaline produced. She dug in her pocket and found an small gause and pressed it against her hand, waiting until the blood with thin and clott.
"I'm so clumbsy, silly me," she smiled sweetly and looked up at him innocently. "I was holding my necklace too hard, I'm sorry Xa'rion." Her free hand shuffled through her pockets and pulled it out to show him; it was made of some sort of metal, carved like a tiny dagger with a point at the end of it, it dangeled on a black string. "My...my guardian angel gave it to me the first day we met, and he promised when I wore it that he'd protect me. Iwas only a child at the time, but it put me at ease to know someone watched over me." She walked over to him slowly, and with one hand managed to press it into his hand and closed it over, "If you keep it, then I can protect you too."
Suki had to smile, despite the pain Izafel brought her, she would not forget the precious times either. She also smiled because of Xa'rion, who was pretending to be fine when he really wasn't. "I am not the only one who has eyes that betray what their pride desires to hide. Desuma also reveals all, you are not at your best right now." Her words were soft as her delicate fingers ran over his calloused ones, "You two deserve a rest, right? I'm sure Desuma wouldn't mind some time to enjoy the beauitful sunset that's approaching us. Regardless, I'll take care of things."
The fire dancer knew that Xa'rion would not be convinced that she was okay so she ran a hand up his arm and whispered softly, "I'm fine, Xa'rion, I know you're concerned. It's not the people whom I fear, but I fear what you'd think of me, if you hear them call me those names once more. I have my past, Xa'rion, but I am in now way the monster they portray me as, I wish to avoid that ridicule, is all."
She left his hands to turn her eyes and body back towards the city. Suki could hear the faint rumble of the busy life, it reminded her of home. "Cities remind me of my own past, the life I left behind when I went off searching for..." she closed her eyes and chuckled, "Keh, nevermind. THe past is the past. I am here with you and Desuma now. Please, won't you rest for me?" [/size]

Xar had expected Desumas responce, but the toned edge it had seemed to foreshadow subconscious thoughts. He looked sideways at the dragon he leaned supportingly against. Her eyes told little, but there bond seemed to hold secrets that neither seemed open to share. He could understand--he too had certain histories he'd rather not reveal, and therefore he shrugged off the unruly oppression within her mind as merely her own hesitation to reveal her darker corners.
Unfortuantely, he'd not ignored her words, though... respectfully... he wished he had. When she was right, she was right... Did she feel all as he did? He wondered back to when he was alone and without a mount. He would never regret the bonding with Desuma, however... he knew on occasion he would perhaps miss the independence his thoughts had at one time to another.
Nonetheless, he did not respond to her right away--acting as any stubborn young rider would. Yet as soon as the stubborn baracade was raised... so was it weakened by Suki's voice, so soft... meek and humbled. He adored hearing the sound of her voice, the soft tones and gentle whispers... to be reminded of the names the men of the villages had scorned her with, did not belittle her in his mind. He saw no malice, evil, or dark deceitfulness that such titles would attribute to her. Overall, he pitied her... and his objective and goal had not strayed from its path since the first day they truly became companions. He had offered his protection then, and he would now.
In all honesty he liked the companionship of a fellow human being. Desuma was the dragon--the other half of who he was, but there was a section of his soul and spirit that was still reserved for something that could never be substituted....
He smiled softly, finding his face close to hers and her hands upon his. A pendent lay dormant in his palm--one he'd seen her wear on occasion. He could not take it, and yet... he could not refuse it. He looked at it, wavering between the decision to accept it or insist she keep it. But she still had more to say. Her words saddened him and made the sores upon his side sting with guilt for having inquired something of her that perhaps caused her pain.
She wasn't facing him now. Her touch was gone, but the warmth still lingered and provided strength to the strained tendons of his arm. Her image was sillouhetted by the evening sun. The wind toyed with her hair and the aura that surrounded her was both beautiful and mourning. He could stand it no more. Slowly standing, he looked to desuma and laid a loving hand upon her, I will accompany Suki on foot into the city. Could you remain above and stay in contact? If trouble arises, it would lend me comfort to know you are close. He offered a gentle smile, warm and caring before leaving her comforting side.
He came up behind Suki, and lifted the pendent--spreading it between his two hands. He dropped it around her neck and fastened the catch as it should be. It was hers, and he could not take it from her... no matter what past it held or whatever significance it bade her. Resting its gentle weight about her neck, he wrapped his arms around her in a gently embrace--one meant to provide comfort and security--even as he lowered his head into the grove where her neck and shoulder met. Resting it there he whispered to her gently with a sarcasm attached that was light and airy.
"My dear friend, you're mistaken. It is I who will protect you. Do not think that a few harsh words and assumed accusations can so easily change my opinion of you. Only you can change that."
He released her from his friendly and comforting embrace and moved a few steps past her, carrying a strengthened step to assure her he was reletively all right. He threw a sideways glance over his shoulder to look at her face--beautifully shadowed by the amber light from the sun.
"Like I'd let you go on your own anyways..." he teased jestingly as his face blossomed in a warm mischevious smile.
He was not going to stay behind and neither was Desuma. Besides there were a couple things Xar hoped to purchase while in town--things that could make both their lives easier when it came to travelling.

Listening to the point where she knew and understood what was going on, but her thoughts still had the room to wander, Desuma paid attention to her Rider and the conversation between the two friends. She tended to his weaknesses as much as she could through their connection feeding the energy and static impulse gently into his weary body. Of course I could and will. However I do not need to like it. You should rest. You are kind for accompanying Suki into the city, but your kindness better not be what kills you in the end. I cannot, after all, take revenge for and against you. Desuma paused to allow the thought its time in Xar’s stubborn head. She continued in a consoling and secure voice answering his directed question. I promise to remain with you and keep in contact and of course I will always be there to lend you any… and I mean any aid required.
Lifting her head slightly, Desuma watched and waited for Xa’rion’s cue to go. She did not pull from his touch nor did she break the connection, but she did allow for easier movement for Xar, more independence perhaps. Soon, though, Xa’rion moved breaking the physical connection himself and Desuma stood slowly stretching slightly. Webbed wings stretched catching the wind. A low grumble gurgled from the pits of her throat as she stood. The dragoness was ready; she may be a bit weary, but still capable of protecting her friends. Amber eyes watched as the two made their way towards the city. Just do not lose your footing and fall down the cliff, please, a sarcastic tone coated the comment usual for most comments between Rider and Mount. Shifting her head towards the setting sun, her bronze scales seemed to take on a golden gleam. Basking for the moment, Desuma was content; twilight was the most beautiful time of the day – tied with dawn’s blazing introduction of the sun. Catching another glimpse of the pair descending the incline, the dragoness could not help but chuckle to herself. She shook her head. If only they would stop denying and hiding.
ooc: Sorry its short.... I really didn't want to interrupt anything ;D .... anyway, Suki, I'm sorry for missing you in the C-box and Tex, don't worry about it; I understand.

She had been so focused by the falling sun Suki almost jumped out of her skin when her pendant, cool and smooth, touched her pale skin. It sent a chill up her spine, but she overall remained still for him as he tied it. Then his hands met her waist. A flood of emotions greeted her eyes, but he could not see them. She was scared, she was confused, she was embarrassed, she was sad. Suki felt needy, for enjoying this embrace so dearly, when she'd been searching for Izafel all this time in secret. She felt like a liar, for not telling this man what she was doing. She was also afraid ultimately, that Xa'rion would leave her, like Izafel had. Suki felt her hands shake, they desperately wanted to touch him, to hold him too, but no sooner had she thought of trying he'd left her embrace.
Like I'd let you go on your own anyways...
Just like that, Xa'rion was on his way again, already a few steps ahead of her. Closing her eyes, her shoulders heaved as she let out a long sigh. Turning, she walked back to Desuma and stroked the beautiful dragon's shoulder, she couldn't reach the head. "Desuma, he's hurt, and you should rest too. I know you're both strong, far stronger than I shall ever be, but," she continued to stroke the dragon while she closed her eyes. "He promised to protect me too, and it was he who drove a knife through my heart and left me to bleed. If he wishes to protect me so, I fear he'll push himself too hard, too much, and I am not worth that suffering." Suki rested her head against Desuma, her voice a small whisper. "I know what you have with Xa'rion I will never have, and you know his thoughts far better than I, I beg of you to protect him. I don't know what I'd do, if another had to suffer....because of me." Suki turned from her dragon friend and hurried after Xa'rion.
The ends of his black hair were frayed slightly, a few were split, she noticed, as she stared at the back of his head, following him down the mountain. He had a confident stance and his oriental style of dress fit him so perfectly, it amazed her. Suki pulled at the ribbon that tied her bangs back and let it fall down, running her hand through the strands, trying to think of something to talk about. Suki wanted to trim his hair, she thought it needed it to stay healthy, she used to do that for...Izafel all the time.
"Ah...um...if you're going to protect me than I should do something nice for you too," she blurted out quickly, keeping her eyes down as she followed, arms cuffed in front of her, a subservient position. "I mean, you're so generous and kind to me, I mean, the least I could do is try to be useful. I could, braid your hair, and trim it a little, not that you look bad it's just..." she trailed off, already feeling stupid. There was blush clinging to her cheeks as she kicked a stone with her foot and huffed, "I used to give the boys haircuts back where I used to live, all the brothers of the village seemed to like it, except for sitting still so long, they'd rather been rolling in the mud I figure, but the moms were happy...."
She wrung her hands nervously and then decided it was better for her to focus on something else. While still walking she looked at her hand, seeing the blood was slowly clotting. Suki for some reason, just wanted to sit and think about Izafel. Today was a day where she missed him terribly. It worked like the ebb and flow of the godly oceans, some days were durable, others unbearable. On this day, with the approach of a full moon, she wanted to curl up and stare at the stars, the stars she used to watch with Izafel. She wanted to remember the giddy feelings of being in love, and being loved. Suki touched her fingers to her lips and closed her eyes, "Xa'rion, have you ever been in love?"

Sometimes Xar'ion just had not hint or clue as to what was really going through Suki's mind. It hurt him a touch to know that he had startled her, when he dropped the necklace around her neck, and her words that followed him down the mountain seemed to burn into his senses as he kept a steady gaze forward now.
He tone was so soft, as if she trusted, but looked to Xar'ion as if he stood above her. He liked the feeling of power, but disliked the fact that he always seemed to feel that she hid herself from him. He could understand, he supposed. He hadn't known her for too long, but he also couldn't help but like her company. She was a quiet girl and almost seemed so sad, so lost within her own thoughts that when she surfaced for conversation she was always so humbled and meak. Whatever past had led her to that lonely road upon which they met would appear to always remain a mystery to him. And he couldn't help but feel frustrated by it. He liked her, there he admitted it. He liked her delicacy, her humbled appearance, her generosity. He felt that they had been through enough together that she could at least look to him as more of a friend. At this point, he almost didn't feel that.
He sighed, wincing as a sharp pain lanced up his side. Biting his lip, he quickly hid the expression and continued unfazed down the shallow hillside. He soon opened his mouth to answer--unaware of the words she muttered to Desuma.
"Sure thing." he chuckled and looked over his shoulder tossing her a warm and willing smile. He almost told her to relax, he wouldn't bite and that the kindness he offered her wasn't given in expectations for a returned favor. But he held it back. She needed to open up on her own, Xar couldn't force it--as much as he just wanted to shake her and tell her that he was her friend. She didn't need to act as if he were a kind stranger or guardian. But what could he do? He smiled to himself and moved along...
...they both did. Xar'ion glanced back once to find Suki had fallen into herself again, thinking about some deep aspect of the cosmos or her hidden past he assumed. Turning back to the path ahead, he too pondered his beginnings. They weren't pleasent, he hadn't shared them either, but then again, sharing pasts and memories were so difficult. How does one come out and say--yeah, orphaned by a drunken father, or raised by a stranger. Now that he thought about it, he didn't belittle her because she held back, he was dissapointed because she let it show. She didn't hide herself well, when she was upset it showed and it was clouding her life. She needed to look at what was before her now. Xar'ion sadly felt slightly ignored.
Suddenly, her words echoed once more down to him, and he felt himself ring with a surprised tone. His words lost themselves in his head as he vainly tried to comprehend what she was asking.
"Xa'rion, have you ever been in love?"
Silence descended between them as he stopped his progress and gazed thoughtfully into the setting horizon before him--layered by deep yellow and orange highlights, a grey damper supressing it as it stretched eastward. What kind of love? He looked towards Desuma, not bothering to hide the thoughtfullness in his eyes. He did love Desuma, but it was not the same kind that he assumed Suki inquired about. Desuma he loved with a passionate and devoted heart, but he could not lavish her with the same affection that he could a woman. To love a woman was different. He loved desuma like a sister, a warm fuzzy feeling that enveloped his senses. But no. He'd never felt that burning sensation of love everlast--that scarlet fever that overtakes both soul and mind, making one crazy and sincere.
"No. I can't say I have."
His tone was resonant and thoughtful, holding a deep reverance to the question at hand. Pulling himself out of his thoughts, he turned sideways where he stood and looked towards Suki with a curious gaze. "Have you?"

Dragon muscles relaxed as the gentle Suki stroked her shoulder. Arching her neck down, Desuma brought her head within range of Suki’s soft touch mainly so she could hear her quiet whisperings. After listening to the end of her request, the bronze dragoness gently nudged her friend’s shoulder. She nodded a promise remembering this time she could not converse as she did with Xa’rion.
And so, the two left on their way to the city.
Desuma, on the other hand, remained by the edge of the cliff once again lying to rest her body. She listened to their conversation so she would not be completely out of the loop upon their reunion. Hair? It was a common enough topic if not a bit random, but Desuma was glad Suki had at least said something. There seemed to be something else other than a hair cut behind the words… it was a sense of reminiscing comfort, the dragoness realized at the mention of her former village. At least she is opening up a bit… in her own way, the concerned Mount thought to herself. However, it was at the mention of love that she thought it wise and considerate to remove herself; she stopped listening, but kept the connection between her and her Rider open. Not to listen through Xa’rion, but to give him access to her mind if needed and to give him the assurance that she was still with them.
A moment afterwards, Desuma notice the gaze Xar had directed back towards her. At first, the dragoness had thought it was something she had done. Then she recognized the look in his eyes. She felt the depth of his thoughts, but did nothing to identify the thoughts wishing to not intrude on their privacy during the setting of the sun.
From the distance, his Mount watched. She watched such as an elder sister would watch over her little brother. Desuma decided she would remain on the cliff’s edge until they entered Feuergeist. Then she would take to the skies. That would be close enough for her to get to them in time to help if anything came up. The task of protecting her friends would become harder once they were enveloped in the city’s buildings and walls. Still, she would find a way – she had promised herself this; herself and Suki she had promised.
ooc: yea it's short... sorry... but you two can go on with your love story now... ;D

Suki turned up to the sky as she watched Desuma took to the air, she would always envy the graceful creature. Sometimes she thought that, if she could fly, she'd ind Izafel quicer, but now was not the time to think of this. Xa'rion had replied he had never been in love, and as expected, tossed the question back to her. Feeling her lungs tighten she knew that this was the time to tell him at least a piece, of her past, no matter how hard it was going to be.
Tucking a strand of hair behind her air she continued to walk forward, slowly approaching him. "Yes, I've been in love before, Xa'rion," she whispered, a slight hint of saddness in her voice. "I've been in love for a very long time." Her eyes found his only briefly then turned back to the sunset, "But things didn't work out for us, I guess that's how you could put it."
Suki knew that she needed to look Xa'rion in the eyes and say this slowly, but her cowardice still directed her actions, she continued walking down the hill. She cradled herself in her arms and sighed, shoulders heaving up, then down, "That day in the market, when the men tried to attack me, those men called me the prostitute that corrupted Izafel....Izafel was my fiance. He was my everything."
'Father says I should take my time, but no longer than a week. I think a week then, so I may find you the perfect dress.' He pushed her down onto the dew-coated grass and nestled his face between her breasts. 'I can not wait to be with you forever Suki, I love you.'
"I belonged to a very exclusive kingdom, protected within the citadel. My father was a simple farmer, respected by everyone for all his hard work. Regardless of how prosperous the harvests were, father always handed out some of our crops to those who suffered. My mother was the local priestess, taking care of the shrines, respected for her grace, archery skills, and benevolence. Father was a sort of leader of my home, and when I was born, the whole village was so happy." Suki felt her throat tighten, but she could still not turn back to Xa'rion and gaze upon him because she knew she'd only start to cry. She was ripping back the skin to expose her past, one she abandoned two years ago.
Suki kicked at a stone, letting the breeze caress her face. "I was I guess the town's little gem, I had my mother's skills in archery and I was in line to be the next priestess, I worked in the fields, and took care of all the little boys in the town. The elders of the village taught me my fire dancing too. It all seems perfect, and I even had Izafel. Many fathers brought their sons in hopes my father would marry me away, but I only wanted Izafel." She tugged at her necklace and let out a long sigh, "Izafel was the only one who would...just let me be. Not leave me alone 'let me be' he just, let me be. I could do what I wanted. I wasn't Suki who did this and that...I was just...Suki. His Suki. Every night he'd come and find me, watching the stars as always, and just sit there and allow me that whimsical pleasure."
There was a pause, a silence, as she released her necklace and raised her hands over head. The hands crossed, as if she was posed to dance, but she then lowered her hands and stared at them. Finally, after what seemed like forever, she turned back to Xa'rion and smiled, small tears forming her eyes but not falling, "But I guess childish puppy love doesn't last, it was only wishful thinking. Two years now..."
His lips covered hers gently as her arms locked around his neck. 'I will always stay with you, my Suki,'
"It wasn't that...he moved on, or fell out of love, or anything. I just...I lost him Xa'rion, my Izafel was just...gone."
Suki had no desire to tell him about that day he broke her heart, the day she lost everything she'd ever known. Her parents must think she was dead, her home was too far and too long to return to. Who she was, she left at the gate, and her heart, in pieces in the dirt. Walking back to him she stood at his side, staring at him with, for once, a happier look in her eyes. Taking his hand gently she tugged him along the path toward the city, "When you fall in love Xa'rion, it'll be the greatest feeling in the entire world. It's hard to describe, but you change in such a positive way. It's like, you really can do anything, just the person saying your name, it's enough to make you smile."
Part of you..never lets go of that feeling....even when that person has gone....
'Woman, I have no time to be valient and love-sick. My job is done. It means nothing to me that we lay together in the grass, in the bed, spilling those passions for the world to see. You are nothing but a cowardess little girl who fell in love on the whim of your parents desires. I love nothing but being sheathed within a woman's flesh
"I'll be so happy when you fall in love, you deserve such a wonderful person."

He saw her tense and immediately regretted his rebuttle. Wishing he'd dropped his inquiries, he watched as a sadness--an emotion he'd become so used to seeing--filled her eyes with a deep blurring glaze. He felt inclined to support her, but knew not how... especially as she began to shed some of the layers she hidden herself with. He was glad to see her brighten as she revealed portions of her troubled love-life. Yet, at the same time, he was now saddened... again feeling broadsided by a man he didn't even know existed, competing for her attention with a past left behind. It troubled him... leaving him irritable. He couldn't say he liked Suki anymore than meager attraction at this point--afterall she was a beautiful girl, and Xar had come to like her quaint, humble, meak, and often times... cute... personality. Still, he also didn't like these damn circles they seemed to be going in. Was that why she had always looked sad? Why she would pause at certain times to remanis about Izafel, about a life she didn't have anymore...? Was that all she thought about?
Xar sighed at the closure of her sad, long tale, and watched as she seemed to prance past him--an added step to her gait. She seemed brighter as if a weight had been lifted from her... and this led Xar to some hope... that perhaps his friend would finally begin to blossom and share some more of her truest personality. Surely, she was not always so grey and thoughtful.
Letting a smile grace his visage, he turned about to watch her move in front of him--absorbing her naive words with a shake of his head and a glancing chuckle.
How old is she? he wondered thoughtfully, jokingly to himself.
He rolled her last few words over in his head--having only a smile as he focused his gaze thoughtfully into the stone beneath him. His world had begun to spin slightly as he descended, but it was so minute it passed beneath him without a tremor of thought. Meanwhile, dare say if he knew the truth, he would have had some smart remark to comfort Suki in her defense--condemning Izafel's actions and assuring her that he was obviously not worth the attention she gave him. But her words were too vague for him to pick up on the exact pain which she endured. From what she said and how it was uttered... he felt almost as if, Izafel had died--and she was but grieving over death. Nigh, he did not know she grieved over abandonment.
Thus, silence overcame the moment as he staggered slightly in her stead. He smiled after her and pondered with a thoughtful curiousity, "Love...? I wouldn't know it if it stared me in the face." he chuckled sarcastically, turning his head to look at her. Was there something behind the words as he stared breifly into her eyes?
Probably not. He liked being the one there to help support her when she faltered, any man liked to feel that strength that feeling of being needed... yet there friendship had grown out of two lonely wanderers sharing the road to subdued the loneliness; what more could come from that within four to five months? Nothing conscious... Both were slightly blind... absorbed for different reasons.

ooc:
You two may continue to play out your 'blind' love story; Desuma will remain on the cliff's edge just a short distance away. This way she will not intrude on private matters other than through the curtained connection she has left between Xar and herself and body language which is visible to her. Additionally, she is close enough to help when needed.
I will just continue reading the thread and jump back in when you want me again (jk) or if I feel like I need to mention something.
Ok? Well... have fun. ;D

Suki continued her stride towards the town, knowing inwardly if she stopped now she would most likely turn coward and run back. To her disappointment she thought revealing her past would have pleased Xa'rion, she thought for once this openess that made her tremble in fnear would be rewarded at least with some physical form of thanks, but there was none. She wrapped her arms back around herself and mentally slipped back into her world. The happiness she had felt from freeing herself of that secret, her deepest darkest secret, had been for nothing.
Love...? I wouldn't know it if it stared me in the face
Suki chuckled, "Love isn't obvious at the beginning so don't fret Xa'rion. It takes time and you have to understand the person. Your true feelings can't be known until they are expressed, but if you know the companion and love them, they will give you subtle implications of their feelings."
Why was it that Xa'rion's lack of response vexed her so? Glancing over her shoulder back at him she saw the same face, the same eyes so poignant but closed off. Why would a man like him seem so uninterested in the idea of love? Xa'rion had won her affections thus far, but she felt like those emotions had just smashed into a brick wall. Would anyone, besides his faithful dragon, break throug to him? Unable to stand it any longer, she turned back to the path.
The town was now in view, it was a rather large city infact. It made her slightly nervous, she chewed o her bottom lip to try and work out the concern. She tried to think of something funny, if Izafel had been here, he would've told her 'If you get in trouble, just dance circles around them and fry them to a crisp.' She smiled, enjoying the little joke with herself. "What would you like to purchase while we're in the city? I suppose we need to restock on our usual rations, but I think I'd like to get something nice for Desuma. I know I can't communicate with her as well as you do---" 'Hell, I can't communicate with either of you, no wonder they are together' "---but I'd like to give her my thanks for her kindness."
Raising her arms over her head she stretched, wrists and elbows snapping, she sighing happily at the blissful release of tension. "Perhaps I'll leave you to your own devices when we're in the city...I mean....you don't have to watch over me. I know what happened last time was my fault, and was not the greatest way to meet the locals, but I'll protect myself. I don't want you to have to watch over me all the time, all men need some time to ease their minds and bodies." Despite her invalidated anger with Xa'rion, she knew she'd also end up purchasing healing medicionals for him, and maybe a special treat for herself.
Tonight was Suki's birthday, but she'd never told Xa'rion that. Birthdays were not just celebrations of one's birth, when a dancer turned twenty she/he was supposed to rejoice in dance. She concluded that was why she wanted to dance so much; she'd been denied the sacred marital dance and now her inner being called for the ascending dance. However, both dances required partners, and she dare not ask Xa'rion for that, not with her child-like tantrum storming through her body.
"So, what do you think?"
ooc: definetely not my best, but i felt like taking the conversation elsewhere to further, i dunno, confuse the crap out of them?

Xa'rion did indeed, seem more of a closed book. There was an irony that revolved around him, as he desired to better understand Suki, whilst he selfishly hid himself. Unfortunately, such conscious realizations did not exist within his mind, and made for a sometimes one-sided ommission between partners.
However, bearing a nobel bit of sensitivity, he did care about Suki's feelings, and it did not pass his notice the vexed spark that flitted briefly across her face as she turned to look at him. His eyes met hers, and seemed to lock for a moment, as each one observed the other--searching for signs, but finding only mystery. It was in this moment, that he felt something. It was a subtle flit, and perhaps it was but his imagination as the pains within his side played tricks upon him. Yet, it felt strangely, and within her face he saw a strength. Izafel was not on her mind in that one moment as she observed him. He could see it--not sadness, not remeniscence, no... whatever she was thinking of, it was not Izafel. He was sure of it... how? He didn't know, and honestly didn't care. He was just glad to see Suki--purely Suki--and it brightened his mood.
A smile spread itself across his visage as she stripped her gaze from his. She didn't seem to see it, but its existance was plain.
"I shall take notes," he replied to her lovely advice. It was a light and airy tone meant to tease and humor, but his next lyric was different. There was a sense of seriousness behind it as it was reflecting a sense of his own considerations, "Though, I will say love is a fickle, undefinable objective. For I daresay it is hard to fully form love itself when one needs two hearts to make it true, and only one to make it sour."
He came up beside her walking, just behind her shoulder as they finally came into view of the city. Suki paused thoughtfully, and Xar unceremoniously followed suit--arching his back with painful results. He was stiff, his body sore, his side bruised, and his pride wounded. But he did not argue when Suki offered to take seperate roads for a little while. No indeed, he would not argue. He wanted a drink... something heavy... his throat ached for it, as did his battered body. But he would not wish to drag Suki along with him for he never really imagined a tavern as a place for any respectable young woman--more or less for Rogues and hard men. Perhaps that is why he liked the pubs... they helped him rebuild his pride--and if he was going to permit anyone to docter him... he would need all the extra assurance he could take. With a nod he accepted her desire to buy supplies and a gift for the dragon. Thoughtfully he peared towards the sky, observing the golden beast above momentarily before looking back down to the path beneath him.
With a comfortable, but defeated sigh, he nodded solemnly. "Indeed, we can go about on our own for awhile," his honest tone suddenly gave way to a heavy sarcasm, designed for humor and nothing more. Adding a crack to his voice, raising the pitch, and placing a pout upon his face, he teased, "though I don't understand why you would want to leave me..."
He dropped the facade quickly, almost disgusted by the pure pitiful impression of the joke--no matter how humorous it was meant to be--and let loose a heart-felt laugh. The sight of the city, had erased several thoughts from his mind including several tensions and troublesome annoyances. He looked to Suki, hoping to see that she had picked up on the humor and not taken him seriously.
He then began to descend once more, this time in front of her. Without his face visible to her, he let it relax. He was more tired than he knew, and the sight of the city made him evermore wishful of a comfortable chair and cool brandy. His eyes became thoughtful once more as he again thought of suki, thought about the conversation just prior to the now. When he believed Izafel may be a dead lost love... he'd not truly considered her other words. They'd called her a prostitute, a corruptor, Izafel was lost to her? Had she left him or vice versa. New conclusions were arising within his mind as it began to seem less likely that Izafel was dead. Honestly, it would make him better understand her grief. He knew what it was like to lose loved ones. Sure he'd never lost a lover, but he'd lost his mother and his father, and he knew the pain of death. It was no easier greif than anything else, but the finality of it made it easier to bear and understand with time. But abandonment, that's more of a perpetual curse... slowly he began to fit different pieces together... if she loved him, then she would live out each day remembering what she had, remembering her love, and remembering her abandonment... knowing that he is still alive and out there... maybe even hoping to see him again so that all will be well and whole again.
He just didn't know for sure... he words, though revealing, were too vague... just too vague... he shook his head and grumbled to himself. That's why she was sulking...? He sighed, he'd almost rather Izafel were dead--if she were to ever see the man again... would she still care for Xar? Unexpectedly, he felt a jealousy rise within his throat. More subconscious signs? But he quelled the notion and soldiered on. He tried to push the thoughts away, but the more he shoved the more they came to mind.
Strangely enough, it took a little assistance from his ailments and painful muscle spasms to eradicate the troublesome thoughts. But even then, they lingered on the surface.
Damn Izafel, alive or dead... you've done something to Suki, and it's confusing the hell out of me. he thought to himself. No so much a defense of suki, but an annoyance of his own.

Though, I will say love is a fickle, undefinable objective. For I daresay it is hard to fully form love itself when one needs two hearts to make it true, and only one to make it sour.
Suki smiled to herself and closed her eyes for a moment of solitude. "Not just two hearts, two heads as well. I can't read minds, Xa'rion, I'm pretty sure no other mortal can either," she whispered these words, unsure if he heard them. Elsewhere in her heart, she wanted to know Xa'rion desperately, know the man who had stayed by her side despite her stormy heart and soul. "I wish...." ...she could not finish her wish. Biting her lip, she continued walking.
"Though I don't understand why you would want to leave me..."
Suki covered her lips as she held in a sweet little giggle. Although she was twenty she still had the laugh of a airy little girl, like a happy wind that brushed through your hair. With a grin on her face she stared at the back of his head, a glitter to her eyes, "Oh Xa'rion, why would I ever leave a man who's so funny?" She laughed again and approached him so they were nearly side by side, Suki only a stride behind him. "I must leave you now because you're too darn stubborn to admit your hurt so you definetely won't buy yourself any healing herbs and such, so I must do it instead."
The town was only a sprint away now. The sounds of the city were evident at this point; she could hear the calls of the merchants along with the happy glee of children running in the streets with their wooden swords. There was a strain to her smile, each town was a bittersweet memory of what she left behind when she was only a young girl. There was a large bell tower in the center of the town, it was high and seemed to disappear into the clouds compared to the small stone buildings beside it. "That will be our meeting point, that bell tower," Suki said aloud as she pointed to it. "It'll be perfect, that way if I get lost I just have to look for the highest building." The fire-dancer laughed at herself, hoping to ease some of the tension she could clearly see in Xa'rion's figure.
Now standing beside him she watched the swaying of his left arm, rocking back and forth as if a pendulum extended into endless motion. As it rocked back toward his side she caught it with her own. The surprise danced across her face, she couldn't believe she had done that. But there it was, his hand, in hers, for this brief moment. Suki squeezed it gently but quickly, afraid she'd loose her cool, "Go relax and be careful....I want to come back to you."
Saying nothing more she ran on ahead of him without looking back. Her face was bright red, Suki couldn't believe she had said that to him, with such a seriousness but loving caress to her words. Her long hair flowed in the wind behind her, catching and reflecting the rays of the sun. Her stomach fluttered, this weak and anxious feeling she hadn't remembered in years. Suki ran through the gates of the city and when the cobblestone street was divided left and right she ran left.
Once inside the city she panted lightly, holding her chest. 'What's wrong with me? Why am I so jittery? Need to find herbs for Xa'rion...and something for Desuma....
"You're ascending tonight."
Her eyes met the eyes of an old woman standing in front of her. The woman was in all black garb, barely five feet tall. Her eyes squinted wtih the wear of age, her face wrinkled and old, hands squeezing the ball of a wooden cane. Suki blinked, "Who are you?"
"You have no partner. Your intended has run away with your heart, that demon.
Suki's eyes widened, a pout/frown on her face. "How do you know these things about me? Can you even see me, old ma'm?"
"I know everything about you my dear, I had a dream you'd come to me, a lady fire dancer. Call me Granny.
Suki looked back towards the gate, 'Xa'rion....'

She was glad to catch some rest after the sudden battle, but she could not bring herself to allow the Rider for which she had searched and at long last found disappear from her senses. Her gold plated head rested on scaled arms one draped over the other just as the rest of her body seemed to rest. Dark red webbed wings though folded at her side hung low to find the support of the ground while her golden tail cradled her slender form. Yet her eyes, ears, and mind did not rest, but perhaps relaxed a bit knowing the relative safety of the pair as they descended upon the city. Rustic amber eyes scanned the horizon lit by the sun burning the clear sky above. Webbed ears took all sounds in focusing on nothing and everything at the same time. Meanwhile, her mind remained open to Xa’rion. Still, she attempted to not intrude. Being that the connection was newly founded, she had much to learn of her rider and their connection. It remained ever-present, but she tried not to pay too much attention for fear of Xar’s reactions. The line had yet to be drawn.
With a deep breath which almost instilled a sense of finality, Desuma lifted her head to the air; her body followed suit. Sleek wings were the last to lift only to be filled with the gentle breezes cascading over mountain and through the valley below. Looking out towards the city, the bronze dragoness waited for her wind. Toned muscles tightened. Webbed wings spread. The wind came and her muscles released recoiling against the rock of the mountain. Gracefully, she launched into the air shimmering like the electricity she wielded.
Soaring high above the mountains, while the winds ebbed and flowed, she circled her new companions. Guilt began finding its way through the cracks and into her mind. She had lied to him; she had tried to protect him. But now, she wondered. Would his ignorance of the city’s name truly protect him from what lied behind those walls? Honestly, she came to doubt it.
Accompanying the guilt was another sin, but not of her own. Banking to her left, Desuma peered back below upon the mountain side. She felt it poking and prodding at a worked-at calm. Another emotion, anger, also seemed to scratch its way to the surface.
“Xar,” she called out in warning, “forget not to check yourself. A Rider’s emotion is a weapon. All I am really asking is for you to use your mind… I know you have one,” the dragoness chuckled softly. The feminine voice continued with the slight jest gone from her voice, “and choose your enemies wisely.” Desuma glided upon the winds in silence. She completed another two or so cycles to collect her thoughts and form her words. Though as powerful as she realized she was, Xa’rion’s Mount feared the chastisement which may come, only that which may come from him. “Xa’rion, I,” his dragon hesitated attempting to gather her stammering voice, “also must ask your forgiveness. I am sorry, but I lied to you.” Her strength wavered. “I know of this city. You are about to enter Feuergeist, the main city of the fire nation and home of the Fire Lord.” She paused hoping he would not lash out against their connection not fully knowing who he is. “We should be safe and people will help, but be ready to encounter military. I fear I know not of your history. I promise to remain by your side. Still, I remain hopeful we will find friends… and you help.” Additionally, Desuma Skyfire wished to have a long, revealing conversation with her Rider so they can learn more of each other, just as Xar and Suki had attempted below.
As the pair entered the city going their own way, the bronze dragoness continued to circle the skies above scouting the city and exploring its content from a dragon’s eye view. She found it quite pleasing and accommodating of a dragon population slightly larger than herself. A draconic smile wrapped around her snout glad that such a place existed. Instincts urged her to land. She remained in the air able to watch both her Rider, Xa’rion and his companion, Suki.

I guess I'm closing this thread. If anyone's looking... Suki moved to a thread in the Valley of Stones called Solace. Desuma is moving to a thread in Feuergeist call The Beginning of the End.
Tex, I'm still up to a partnership. There's a pm for you when you get back.
