Name: Caelum Gladius of the Vesica clan
Gender: Male
Race: The Vesica clan is an ancient and proud clan of purebred feather dragons of the nobility standing in Wind’s society. Upon his birth these dragons had seen through ancient magic the futures which lie ahead of the boy. Hence, the reason for his naming. Even as a hatchling, the boy was double-bladed in personality… and future. And so his name is literally double-bladed as well. Caelum Gladius of Vesica – meaning Sky Sword of Blade.
Corner Preferance: Wind
Age: 687 summers
Description:
Caelum Gladius of the Vesica clan is a feather dragon purebred of the peaked age of 687 summers though some may consider him of a mixed blood of sorts for he has dabbled in the humanoid art of sorcery. His is a verbal magic without the need to hand signs fit for both a humanoid and draconic vessel. Through this magic he was able to acquire a humanoid form in the first place, unlike the rest of the pure blood draconic kin hence his label as a mixed blood despite his pedigree and family stature. This man’s family is what the humans would consider nobility in society. For many generations they have lived as significant figures in Wind’s government hailing the goddess Airos’s grace, beauty, and spiritual freedom. Even as they wait for the next Lady of the Wind, the Vesicas praise Airos never doubting her wisdom. Therefore, under his family’s tradition, the eyes of Wind’s people, and under his own morality as well, Caelum has devoted himself to Airos and her people. He has been this for the past near seven centuries and will remain in this mental state even as the next Lady is revealed.
His dragon figure is beautiful even with his muscular proportions in a word. The leathery armor which covers his draconic structure is painted in the thin hue of light turquoise. Feathered wings – those which stretch across the skies protecting both nation and honor – spread 40 feet each when fully extended to his side to support his massive body when in flight. Their feathers are gently touched by the lightest of blues which would appear the purest of whites otherwise. Caelum’s body extends a full 30 feet from nose to tail and 9 and half feet from the heels of his feet to his shoulders. Sharp ivory teeth and talons accent his draconic grace with dangerous features. In addition to all this, Caelum Gladius’s spine sports a line of long, soft silver-blue fur with almost the same hue as his feathers. Long whiskers accent his face just under nose at the end of his snout.
Though as massive as his dragon form is, he takes on a more humbling size when transformed relatively. As a humanoid, Caelum stands at 6 foot 7 inches so he is actually quite tall when compared to humans no matter how strange it feels to him to not be towering over the miscreants – keep in mind this dragon has become accustomed to this form, however, due to business and certain requiring circumstances. With flesh pale with only the golden touch of the sun, his body stretches with the refined muscles expected from those of draconic origins let alone those of pure blood. His hair matches that of the fur on the draconic spine while his eye color also follows from his dragon. Caelum’s eyes sparkle as sapphire in the blessed sun. When walking about in his humanoid form, Caelum dresses in tunics and pants suitable for individuals of his stature. Finally, though often covered by his subtly elaborate garb, a scar crosses from the left of his chest to his right – a memento courtesy of a fire dragon. The two giants had battled long ago during the Age of Wars. It was a long and bloodied battle between the two sides; every talon which had treaded upon the battle field had found flesh and blood, and all blades had bitten some flesh. Dragons were beyond exception. Many lost their lives. Caelum could never truly be sure whether it was luck or skill which had saved him, or perhaps it was his determination to protect her, his Lady of the Wind.
Skills:
Dragons are natural sources of magic in both legendary and ordinary senses. Hence, the verbal magic, which can be spoken in the ancient tongues – those of the humanoids and draconic races –, is a mere amplification of his own magical power. Caelum is skilled in many of the general magics and spells including that of incantation, which requires time making them unreasonable in battle, and transformation though he usually remains with draconic and humanoid forms. Since his magic runs in his blood, he possesses the ability to shift at any moment he desires though some pain does arise and some time is required for a transformation. Also, he has the ability to sprout specific dragon limbs while in his more human body depending upon what is needed.
Additionally, Caelum Gladius is a dragon who has both mastered and experienced many times the art of battle. Long has he protected the pride and beauty of Airos’s nation and long has he served her Lady through peace and pain. This dragon has fought in the Age of War and has thrived in the after time of peace. Of course, he can fight as a dragon with the brute strength and legendary cunning which comes naturally in said form – when the situation calls for it. Still, despite this draconic strength, it cannot be said his humanoid form is weak and useless in battle. On the contrary in fact. Since he has learned to transform into this vessel, Caelum has devoted himself to learning far more than any dragon has done before – to fight as those of the smaller races have. He is quick and retains much of his draconic strength in humanoid body. Caelum has mastered the bladed art in a number of aspects – thorough training the cause. As a warrior, this man is a master of the sword as well as the double-bladed spear ironically – where arrow heads were replaced with gracefully curved blades – making him suitable for battle both military and personal. However, the key to his strength was not that of physical or magical power, but that of his mental vigor.
Personality:
Caelum being an individual of noble origins has developed great strength mentally to cope with the great ordeals of war and eternal time. A number of self-developed mental barriers protect him from many low insults and taunting words and to protect those outside from the rage hiding within. Some times, people believe him to be callous, but he is a man controlled by and controlling of his emotions; he was forced to be by both his position and his secrets. He is a loyal and dependable man true to his nation and goddess. However, a warning must be issued. As with all dragons, do not test one’s luck without expecting to feel the wrath of dragons.
Sample Post: Advising Wind
His heart lurched as he realized the date. Ten years ago, his precious Lady had crossed over to new unexplored skies. She was a beautiful old dragoness – benevolent and wise. Her death was of natural causes, but that did not make the pain and effect any less severe. Wind was vulnerable in this state despite the support of the dragons and the leaders who had devoted themselves to and served under their Lady of the Wind. Confusion reigned with fear of the fate which awaited nations without a leader’s guidance at the stern.
Caelum had done his best to keep his nation safely in one piece. It was as a result of his devotion and stature that the council elders had chosen him to lead and guide in the Lady’s stead. He had done well in advising the late Lady through the Age of War and into peace, but there was something more – something secret. Not only was he one of her top trusted advisors and militant officers; he was also her secret love. They enjoyed a number of beautiful moonlit nights on the cliffs outside Denenvera. Perhaps if they had been allowed to follow through with that love, they may have lived contently and their departure more happy. But both were loyal followers of tradition and law and dared not cross the line of Lady and subordinate no matter the open devotion for that was all it was – devotion.
Hence, all history – the known history – has led to Caelum Gladius to this position of leadership and influence. Long has he led Wind from both the back- and foreground, included behind the curtains keeping the late Lady sane and less stressed from her own pressures. Finally, this position of leadership and influence has led Caelum to this moment – his reassignment.
Soaring high above the Lands blessed and embraced by wind, dragon eyes enjoyed the passing view of Montagna Del Vento even as his heart raced. She is coming! She is here! Praise Airos! Her blessings alive again. Feathered wings beat against the air and glided upon the winds. His heart and mind raced in the excitement as he neared Denenvera. Preparations needed to be made. Her position readied. Her home secured. Then he saw it. Beyond Wind’s mighty capitol, the proclaimed and prophesized parting of the skies appeared. Airos has spoken to her blessed chosen one.
With a thud, Caelum landed in the courtyard in front of an elaborate palace large enough for the dragons under Airos to move about freely. Only with a few minutes passed, the temporary leader confirmed preparations were under way. Soon, he was off to the skies once again – this time led by instinct and Airos’s blessing.
ooc: specific parts of his history have yet to be written... these will come most likely as Caelum fills in our new Lady.
