A captive of War not yet begun
(Kaji is continuing on from Caves of Lunlie’s childhood)
Once Peira left his company, Fire Lord Hito continued on to the military headquarters only to be greeted with a ‘gift’ from Master MeRyk, one of his top officers. The gift, or rather the woman, remained defiant even as he asked simple innocent questions trying to determine her reasons and fate… even through his play of words determined the nation from which she hails – Water. Continually he attempted to gain her trust with kind words even asking her name of which he only received Atalopai – Lady Atalopai. She knew not of what to do often describing herself as a cornered viper to the reader. Kaji, however, seems to go out of his way to show her kindness and trust even to the point of releasing her and giving her the opportunity of a vulnerable moment on his part and offering her a glass of wine. Warily she accepted the drink. His confidence unsteadied her and so she resorted to her magic of seduction… upon a known womanizer… this should be interesting. Both continue playing their games – hers of the mind while his of the voice.
It was a few moments before the ultimate answer came, “I do not know.” He revealed in his thoughts some intentions other than from an international perspective just before a rap at the door announced a messenger of Earth from Master Satazian himself concerning an incident in the Shephard’s Fields (Serene Peace). Therefore, a meeting between the leadership of Fire and Earth was planned and his plans for Atalopai postponed – his intentions still unclear. Soon enough the messenger was dismissed with a response and a healing gift, but before leaving the boy Briar noticed the woman of elfin origins. Additionally, Kaji wrote a summons for Lieutenant Vantor to take to Lady Peira from earlier before he returned to his business with Lady Atalopai who had stood off in the corner. Night came. Ivalia reluctanctly accepted Lord Kaji offer of retiring back to his personal abode.
Tension broke even if it was for a moment when Ivalia actually laughed. Offering her a guest room just across from his own, Kaji opened the floor when he asked her if she required something else. It was his kindness which confused her and his open trust which closed her. Not completely unexpectedly, Ivalia flowed with the atmosphere moving towards Kaji who had sat himself down upon her temporary bed. His gesture of kindness fueled her fury as she thought him false. Seducing him into a kiss, though we know not exactly how well the young lord could control himself at this point, Ivalia Atalopai played her magic in an attempt to perhaps make her escape when she suddenly broke ordering him from her room in both anger and confusion. The lord conceded leaving her with her thoughts and feelings. Enchantress Atalopai was more confused than anything in her feelings; Kaji’s words and actions during the night unknowingly breaking the wall which she had built between her and her emotions. She no longer desired to seduce him.
Back in his own room, Kaji revisited his day making notes both in his journal and his mind. He remembered Lunlie and Peira and Miss Atalopai. With the final thought of his future business entered a familiar dream. Waking the next morning, he returned to his military headquarters (continued in Plans and Preparations) leaving Ivalia alone to perhaps catch up with him when she was ready in order for her to return to her homeland. Unbeknownst to all including a nursemaid tending to the Fire Lord’s home who was assigned to guide the water maiden to Kaji, Ivalia escaped to the city through a window (continued in Rogue in the Streets).

Plans and Preparations
Fire Lord Hito returned to his military headquarters first thing in the morning (after A captive of war not yet begun). After listening to Sergeant Major Asan’s report and dismissing him with orders to find MeRyk, Kaji retrieved a map of the Unclaimed Territories to make plans for assumably his rendezvous with Master Satazian of Soil. It was as he scoured over the map and borders that the summoned Peira announced herself with a question. She inquired about the arrow she had lost to him in the wilds during their first encounter. He answered in the usual play of words before asking about his own lieutenant. Peira, however, no longer wished to play games and once again demanded a straight answer which caused a sort of shift back to the Lord of Fire; he realized his games were over for now. Quickly, the Fire Lord answered seriously and as proof ignited a ball of fire in his hand. Surprisingly, this flame ‘bit’ its master and Kaji immediately extinguished it without breaking composure. (Could the Fire Lord be losing control?) His response unsettled Peira though and his flame had seemed a threat to her (his true intentions are yet to be revealed). The female rogue never really answered him as to whether she was satisfied or not with his answer; she quickly change the topic inquiring about his summons not thinking of his hand.
The shift in topic was a welcome opportunity to lighten the mood with a little refreshment for the Fire Lord as he offered his wines to his guest. Though his tension has more or less dissipated, Kaji continued with a serious air speaking of his upcoming rendezvous with Satazian. Here he invited her to join him to “utilize her skills” in protecting Fire’s diplomatic group. Before she could respond, however, a messenger on the wing interrupted with an urgent message for the Lord of Fire concerning the nation’s safety.
With apprehensions about the ‘peaceful’ meeting between Fire and Earth and not desireing to let her dislike of birds show, Peira wheeled to face opposite of Kaji and “his bird” in order to think over what her response should be.
The falcon’s message came as a key to unraveling the rest of preparations for Lord Hito. He summoned Major Lennox Fredel to the room with orders to assemble three squads each for a precise task. Squad one is to be sent out immediately in response to the falcon’s message concerning a Water vagrant wandering the outskirts of Fire. Squad two is to be ready for dispatch upon MeRyk’s report to retrieve those unfortunately soldiers and dragons who were unduly sacrificed by MeRyk’s unwarranted attack. On the other hand, squad three is to be assemble by Fire Lord Kaji Hito himself in preparation for the ever-waiting diplomatic meeting with the Master of Soil. Before the major left, a final order echoed that the Major Fredel would be the one to lead Squad one and was to report back to Lord Hito before disembarking. He turned his attention back to his original visitor, Lady Peira.
After thinking the conditions over with herself, the fire rogue Peira turned back toward Kaji to state her terms – no militant commitment and a horse. Of course her price came with a characteristic insult to the uniform. Her independence amused the Fire Lord; still he agreed to her price.
He then led her to the offices. Fire Lord Hito listened to brief reports on current events – Brigadier General Wilhelm MeRyk’s disappearance and Sergeant Major Asan’s search – before asking for Sergeant Lily Stone. Leaving Lady Peira to Sergeant Stone’s care, Kaji went to meet his friend and lieutenant who had brought another visitor to see the nation’s leader. As Lieutenant Vantor went to follow up on Colonel Da’mon (an incident involving a demon had occurred in Are all men the same? the night before), Kaji introduced himself to Storm taking her out to reintroduce her into the city. They moved to the market making small talk and informally introducing each other to their respective personalities.
A definite starting line has yet to be drawn.

The Other Side
(branches off from Plans and Preparations)
Having been left by Lord Hito, a young subordinate named Sergeant Lily Stone promptly entrusts her files and records to another officer in order to fulfill her lord's request concerning their guest. Both an appropriate uniform and a horse was to be acquired for the beautiful, fiery Peira. Guiding her new visitor through the halls, the blonde-haired, blue-eyed Sergeant Stone awaits a choice from the copper-toned woman.

Rogue in the Streets
Strolling in the streets of Feuergeist in the mid of morning, Wilhelm MeRyk and his subordinate the dragonite Falron Mavrick discuss plans concerning their ‘messing with’ the Fire Lord himself utilizing the beautiful enchantress Ivalia recently captured. Along their walk, after encountering to boys described as the draconic future of fire, they ironically with a twist of fate bump into their current pawn, Ivalia Atalopai, who had unknowingly escaped from Lord Hito’s abode. She is in a confusion caused by Kaji’s unprovoked and unexpected hospitality and in an attempt to avoid the familiar MeRyk actually ran into him.
In order to escape and in desperation, she ran. Falron took to the chase upon the rooftops of Feuergeist. Even as Water’s enchantress stops for a breath, the young dragonite waits sitting on the roof of the building next to the alley.
We await to witness Master MeRyk’s response to the second encounter.

The Beginning of the End
Finally after a scuffle with Zarr'inik (continued from Just Outside), she arrived at her long-awaited destination, Fire's capital and the Fire Lord's home Feuergeist. With Psycree at the reigns, Nova sits back and watches the scenery as she enters the city. Excitement and hope coarse through her body. Despite her muddied appearance, Psychree could very well fit in with the general population, but still, that's the thing. Anything could happen with all the people around her in the city. And so the next test begins...

Hunting Ice
(branched from Plans and Preparation)
After confirming authenticity of the note sent from Master Garrend’s falconry establishment, Major Lennox Fredel and his team stopped at a small tavern to rest from the journey to Setine Village before commencing in their search (a message had been sent from the thread Winter’s Silence).
Unbeknownst to those of Fire’s military, their target, Kagami, was practically just outside having a private moment with a sparrow in a tree. That was at least until another rogue walked onto the scene in time to witness the water rogue’s talents.
A tavern boy called Kai was the first to see the two rogues who then retreated back to the inn to inform the team who was at the moment packing their gear.
Meanwhile, the rogues – one of water and the other of fire – introduced themselves as mischievous miscreants would. Kagami and Kiao spoke of the connection between power, talent, and curses – the philosophy of criminals and the populace. Surprisingly, Kiao, who had yet to give her a name (neither in fact had given their respective names), asked to try her curse for himself. They continued in this fashion of word play and playing with magics becoming dangerously close. He revealed his talent which allows him to copy the powers, thoughts, personality, and appearance of an individual. Once he had delved into her being, the two moved onto another pertinent topic – her presence in the Fire nation.
It was at this point both revealed they were not ones for boundaries. Additionally, he asked for what purpose the military was looking for her. She admitted to threatening two fire denizens besides being in the Fire nation, but also revealed she did not touch either player in her encounter with them. Playfully she asked if he was to turn her into the authorities. He answered in a manner just as teasing and menacingly that he has no reason to.
Then suddenly he announced it was time to go. He beckoned to her to follow with a gesture before disappearing into the wilds.
Will Kagami follow? Will the rogues slip right passed the military’s gaze? Will Fredel’s team miss their chance or follow into a dangerous situation?

Miles Off
After a brief brawl which resulted in bruises, cuts, and deeper wounds as well as the union of a destined Rider and Mount, the trio of Suki, Xa’rion, and Desuma travel towards the capital city of Feuergeist. Suki, a fire dancer, travels with Rider and Mount with a secret hope to find her ‘lost’ lover. Xa’rion’s reason for travel has yet to be reveal as his main motives have included protecting Suki and hoping she will open up to him. Meanwhile, Desuma, who has been the only one to reveal to the reader that she knows where they are, stays close to protect both Xar and Suki. The bronze dragoness Desuma wishes for Xar’s quick recovery and has asked him to find a healer in the city despite his stubbornness.
Before beginning down the hill, Xa’rion and his Mount Desuma have a small (and sarcastic) heart-to-heart about his injuries and his concern for Suki. Afterwards, he breaks the physical bond through which Desuma attempted to heal his body and Suki voices her request to the wise dragoness who attempts to relay her response back to the dragon-deaf Suki – she will always protect him.
Now, Suki and Xa’rion have began their trek down the mountain towards the yet unnamed city (assumably Feuergeist) leaving Desuma on the cliff top. The dragon determines that she is close enough to help them when needed; but once they enter the city, her duty to protect them will become much harder. She leaves them with their privacy as the mention of love comes between Xar and Suki. We wait for Suki’s answer to the question she had asked Xar – the same question he had bounced back at her. Her answer revealed some of her past and perhaps uncovered some pain. Afterwards, Xar joked with himself and attempted to keep the humor with his opinion of the love made for him. Still he cursed Suki's lost love.
Upon entering the city, the pair parted ways to find their respective needs - Suki to find herbs for Xar and Xa'rion to find a bar. While watching her friends enters a city, perhaps guilt poured over Desuma leading her to breaking the silence over their mental link and apologize for keeping the city's identity secret. We wait for the Rider's reaction to discovering that they just entered the Fire Lord's home, Feuergeist.

Waking from his nightly curse, Phoenix moved despite throbbing pain and severe fatigue to return to the inn for much needed rest and to his beloved, Anemone. Around the same time, his partner awoke and went about her normal routine of shower, ready herself, buy food, and wait for her love to appear on the horizon, which he soon did as she sat on a barrel chewing on bland bread and cheese. She greeted him with sarcasm and a welcoming smirk. They embraced sharing a kiss that embodied their mutual love and respect. A teasing dialogue begins as the pair tends to Phoenix's friend and steed, Tempest. Anemone declares that she will always wait for him and have food and a bed for him; she states she will do what she can to take care of him. They exchanged words of passion as well as jest before the man finally conceded to eating something before sleeping.
Taking Tempest into the stables, Phoenix's mind wandered through theories about his nightly horror, but once finished, he throws the thoughts aside offering Anemone the choice of what they were next to do. With their usual air and constantly loving teasings, Phoenix and Anemone return to their room in the inn. Preparing to climb into bed, the orange-haired man reveals to the reader that the long-lost 'brother' they are en route to finding is the current Fire Lord Kaji Hito. After a shower, Pheonix finally got his food and Anemone her drink. Coyly the two played at the other's sexual desires.
Even after the playful banter, Anemone consented giving her beloved the chance to rest, but Phoenix denied this taking her in a passionate kiss leading her to her back with his upper body twisted over her.
"I love you." The words still echo in the air as we awaited his love's reply.

Their walk was filled with a conversation dominately controlled by the man’s smooth talk until they reached the city gates. The Fire Lord introduced his title here semi-angering Peira.
