The Concept (summarized)
When the world was created, the gods left it nameless. It was as their races battled and warred, saturating the earth with blood and chaos, that a name developed.
The land came to be called Alraënia... a word derived for the symbolism of hell, hate, and war... a word produced out of an ancient line of text, a language nearly dead, all but forgotten.
Alraënia was a blood term, defining in its meaning the dark concepts of bloodshed and slaughter. It was a fitting name for the world at that age of time.
But this was a name that was prone to change with the times. The world could not always symbolize such hate and malice for all eternity could it?
Apparently not, for as the world settled into a neutral era--an age of peace--the people began to call her by a new name...
...Algaësia.
It was a polar opposite. Another word from that very same language--the acronym for destruction and abuse. In its syllables it defined in its meaning tranquility and serenity--a subtle peace.
And that is how the world was named, for years and years after, until almost all had forgotten the dark past and the dark name.
But Alraënia is not dead. Again the term rises into claim as war brews once more.
The world is awakening into a vicious thing, like it once was. So the rebirth of Alraënia begins.
...and this time it will not change again. The world will always be in chaos, even through peace... Alraënia will exist, so as never to allow those to forget, the bloodshed which she portrays.
Alright so below, are some guidlines that you may be interested in looking over. These following suggestions will hopefully help guide you through this name change as smoothly as possible. Honestly, it's really not that complicated, so I'm sorry if you do get it already and it sounds like I'm talking down to yall. I'm not, I just want to make sure that everyone understands it.
I. Gradually introduce the new name into your character's awareness.
Meaning, don't suddenly be like "poof" it's Alraënia. Bring it gradually into the plot of your character, have them realize that "oh, it's not Algaësia anymore...". They could perhaps hear it via rumor or gossip.
It's more like an inner realization anyway. Because war and chaos is starting to rise again people are probably like... this reminds me of Alraënia, the name from back in the day... and then from that point on they refer to it as such. However, you feel like having your character figure it out, is up to you as long as you refer to the land as Alraënia from now on.
Most likely, the Leaders of the Nations should be the firsts to notice it, so they might actually send out a bulletin or newsletter type thing to help spread the concept if that feels right to them.
II. Don't linger on the subject.
We don't need this to be a big deal. Just like a little "note to self" and then move along. We want the change to be simple. Nothing big or fancy. Just like a little "hmm... it changed. That's strange, but oh well." and go back to whatever it is you were doing. Just anywhere you might have put Algaësia you now put Alraënia. Simple really.
III. Rarely, preferably never, refer to the old 'Algaësia'.
Aglaësia is now officially a dead term. It's a part of the earth's past and nothing more. You may referance it briefly in your post if you wish--perhaps you are remembering as the world once was in the era of peace. But it's memorial should be reletively fleeting. In time, we're hoping "Algaësia's" presence on the site will fade away until it is only referanced in the plot history and such. That is the optimum goal, so wholly adopt "alraënia" as best as you can. lol. ;D
again, if you have any questions, just message a staff member. We'll be glad to answer them
remember you do not need to change anything that you wrote in the past. "Alraënia" is only from the now and onward.
actually, to be honest, we haven't officially adopted it ourselves, but we'll send you a PM letting you know exactly when you can start putting considering all these guidlines.
